Campfires, campfires, and wood stove fires are prohibited in the High Uintas Wilderness within a quarter mile of certain lakes and reservoirs on the Roosevelt-Duchesne Ranger Districts of the Ashley National Forest and the Evanston, Mt. View, and Heber-Kamas Ranger Districts of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests, as shown on the attached map. This restriction applies to all pedestrians, equestrians, and hikers and is in effect from May 5, 2026, through May 5, 2031. Exemptions apply to persons with a Forest Service permit specifically exempting them from this order, or a written determination by a Forest Service officer that a permit is not required, as well as federal, state, or local officers, organized rescue or firefighting personnel, and federal or state administrative staff performing official duties.
